2015 A Retrospective

Oh man, where do I start. This year has been incredible for so many reasons and I’d lie if I said it wasn’t hard for a bunch of other reasons. I feel like this year was the year I really grew the most in my craft. I finally started coming home from weddings with a big smile on my face, genuinely satisfied with what I’d accomplished (Unless I started comparing my work to others). A big point I guess personally and for my business was being named as one of Rangefinder magazine’s Top 30 Rising Stars of Wedding photography.. in the world. That just really blew my mind and I still don’t really believe it to be honest. There are so many incredible young photographers out there making incredible work. I definitely don’t feel worthy to be given that praise. Getting to travel 7 different countries to do this amazing thing people are calling “my job” was also just insane. Amidst the loneliness of travelling alone there were so many incredible experiences out on the road and I’m so thankful for every client who bought me a plane, train or boat ticket to anywhere. You guys are brilliant and I love you all so much. I feel so blessed to call almost all of my clients friends. I love building relationships with you all and I’m so grateful that you would invite me into the most intimate moments of your lives and give me the privilege of telling your story. Thank you thank you thank you. I’ve collated a few of my favourite frames from this year into the post below. There’s a lot more that I’ve left out but you’ve got to draw the line somewhere.

Gemma & Tim {Elopement Inspiration} Country Australian Elopement

I don’t really have any words to describe how special it was to photograph this. Nor to describe the stupid look on my face as a stared at the frames on my computer screen for the days following as I edited them all. This was truly one of the most special things I’ve ever got to photograph and one of those days where I just cannot believe I get to do this for a job. The drive up to Capertee Valley in country New South Wales was simply stunning, motorbikes, smoke bombs and flowers to die for..  Anyway I’m not going to keep going on because the photos should do the talking from here.. but if you’re needing some inspiration for your elopement.. this should top your Pinterest board for a while. As always best enjoyed with your headphones on and the volume cranked to 11.
